About

Being born and raised in Western Massachusetts was not uneventful.  The family business was an ice cream shop which made my summers a mixed blessing.  All the ice cream I wanted, but I also needed to put in my time working.  I can't say it was my favorite job, but it was a job and everyone needs to start somewhere, especially if it's a family business.  I went to Turners Falls HS, and later Greenfield Community College and UMass Amherst to study Journalism.  Writing was my outlet, my passion, what I wanted to do.  And even though we'd sometimes like to call journalism fiction, it was not the type of writing that I could see myself doing on a regular basis.  In depth field reporting,  maybe.  Glam, no.  Unless I was going to be interviewing artists and musicians *because this involved attending concerts or museums*.

To Seattle, WA I moved, in 1993.  The Grunge scene, local market artists and talent.  Hopping on a train with 2 bags and a backpack felt like destiny, I remember thinking  'I was made for this'.  New people, new opportunities, new scenery ... it was wonderful.  I took pictures and wrote letters home; Seattle is a beautiful city, rain and shine.   My friend Emily even planned to move out here a year behind me.  It was great to have East Coast company over here on the West Coast. I had gotten a job in a large contractors office and was searching for that 'just right' writing gig.  And searching and searching ...

In 1996 I had my son, Hunter.  This effectively took the majority of my time and most of my writing stopped, creative and correspondence.  I was a mother, and I learned it was a more than full-time job.  He was what I thought about :)  My daughter was born in 1999, enter another entity to care for.  Less time to think of anything but being mom.  Did it all - beach, park, dogs, toys, preschool, playgroups, crafts, parties, t-ball, school volunteer, home school, field trip chaperon/volunteer again, GS leader, baseball/football/cheer mom, taekwondo... beauty.

They are respectively 14 and 11 now, and it has come to the point where I can focus on other projects, for my own growth and opportunity.  I traveled for a couple of years - getting back onto an airplane felt amazing.  I've been going back to college for American Sign Language to become an interpreter and have written my first book.  More are in the works ... I am enjoying the writing and my projects with various friends.

Big Love, Take Care
